A popular figure in the local music scene

The DJ Jon Anthony, who was a popular figure in the Bangor / Belfast music scene for 40 years, has died.

John Anthony Cross, aka Jon Anthony, died in hospital after being injured in a fall at his home in Bangor. 

It is understood he was in his 60s.

For a great many people he will be fondly remembered for his years in charge of music at the Queen’s Court venue on Queen’s Parade in Bangor.

A true professional, Jon Anthony knew how to entertain and ‘work’ his audience to the full. His immense talent made him an influential figure for up-and-coming DJs.

Before his retirement from the music scene, Jon Anthony was an extremely popular DJ at the Windsor Bar venue in Bangor.

He was regarded as a true character and will be missed by his many friends.
