Film and TV actress Jill Clayburgh passes away

The actress Jill Clayburgh has died in the United States. She was 66.

Ms. Clayburgh had enjoyed success in films, TV and on the stage.

In recent years she had appeared in popular TV series Dirty Sexy Money and Nip/Tuck, for which she received an Emmy nomination.

Her film successes included An Unmarried Woman (1978) and Starting Over (1979).

Ms. Clayburgh had been nominated for an Oscar for her role in An Unmarried Woman. She won the Best Actress award at Cannes for her performance in the film.

She had in recent months completed filming on her last movie, Bridesmaids. The comedy is set for release next year,

The actress died from Leukaemia. She had been diagnosed with the disease more than 20 years ago.

Ms. Clayburgh is survived by her husband, the playwright David Rabe.
