JR says he has no fears of dying

The actor Larry Hagman, who played JR Ewing in Dallas, has said he has his fears of dying have been “eliminated” following a near-death experience.

79-year-old Hagman has put his relaxed view of passing away down to his experience while undergoing a liver transplant operation in 1995.

The once heavy drinker said he felt close to dying during the operation.

He compared his experience to the time, earlier in his life, when he had experimented by using the drug LSD.

He said: “It made me more compassionate, more understanding of others. I felt like I was moving towards a white light where I felt at one with the universe.”

The actor, who will soon be appearing in the Desperate Housewives TV series, said that during his life-saving operation he experienced similar feelings.

“I had almost theidentical experience during my liver transplant when I was near death and found the same white light and the sense of oneness with everthing.

“It felt so safe and comfortable I didn’t want to come back but something told me it wasn’t my time.

“It eliminatd my fear of death. I’m not keen on pain but death hold no fears for me anymore.”
