Man dies in County Antrim road accident

A man has become the first road victim of 2011 following a crash in County Antrim.

The 63-year-old victim, who has not been named officially, died after his car struck a wall in Ballycastle and plunged into a river.

The accident happened on New Years Day at around 3 p.m.

According to police the collision happened on the Glenshesk Road. The man’s car struck a wall and then plunged 50 feet down a gorge into a river.

Divers recovered the body following a search.
