Three men charged in connection with murder of Northern Ireland woman

Three men have been charged in connection with the murder of Northern Ireland woman Michaela McAreavey who died while on honeymoon in Mauritius.

Her husband, the Down gaelic footballer John McAreavey, found his wife’s body in their room at a hotel in the village of Grand Gaube.

The 27-year-old teacher had apparently been strangled.

Police believe Mrs. McAreavey was attacked when she disturbed burglars.

The three men facing charges are hotel workers. Two have been charged with murder and one with conspiracy to murder.

Mrs. McAreavey was the daughter of Tyrone gaelic football manager Mickey Harte and had been at his side on the three occasions the Tyrone team won the All-Ireland Championship over the past seven years.
