Actor and comedian Alan Sues passes away

TRIBUTES have been paid to the actor and comedian Alan Sues who has passed away. He was 85.

He will be best remembered by a generation of TV viewers for his appearances on the hit US television series Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In.

Mr. Sues played a number of characters on the show, which was hosted by comedians Dan Rowan and Dick Martin.

Among the routines he would perform were those involving the characters Big  Al and Uncle Al the Kiddie’s Pal (see below).

As Big Al, Mr. Sues played an effeminate sport reporter.

He left the show, which also made stars of Goldie Hawn and Lily Tomlin, in 1973.

Mr. Sues enjoyed a long career mostly in TV shows and made for TV movies including Fantasy Island, Chips, Gridlock and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.

He had battled ill health in recent years and had his last role in the short film Artificially Speaking in 2009.
