Actor Roy Skelton passes away

The actor Roy Skelton, who provided the voices for puppets George and Zippy in the children’s TV programme Rainbow, has died. He was 79.

He had joined the popular show in the early 1970s and remained on the team until it ended in 1992.

Mr. Skelton also worked on the Dr. Who series from 1967 to 1988, voicing the Daleks, Cybermen and the Krotons. 

His television career spanned almost 50 years.

In 2002 he was guest star in an episode of the Sarah Jane Adventures.

He also reprised the role of Zippy in 2008 for the BBC One series Ashes to Ashes.
