Small funeral is held for Elizabeth Taylor

Screen star Elizabeth Taylor has been buried following a small private ceremony in California.

The funeral took place at the Forest Lawn Cemetery where many of the Hollywood greats are buried.

A small number of family and friends attended the ceremony.

Ms. Taylor had apparently left instructions that the service should begin 15 minutes after the stated time because she wanted to be late for her own funeral.

The Oscar winning actress died in hospital on Wednesday (March 23) where she had been receiving treatment for congestive heart failure.

The funeral service was conducted by Rabbi Jerry Cutler.

Ms. Taylor had converted to Judaism before her wedding to Eddie Fisher in 1959.
