Tributes are paid to musician Jo Dunne

TRIBUTES have been paid to musician Jo Dunne of Fuzzbox who has passed away aged 43.

Ms. Dunne had been lead guitarist in the all-girl quartet which had emerged from the Birmingham music scene in the mid-1980s and went on to produce a number of Top 40 hits.

Their work included International Rescue, Love Is The Slug and Pink Sunshine (see below).

The band members had included Ms. Dunne’s sister Maggie along with Victoria Perks (Vix) and Tina O’Neill. They broke up in 1990.

In 2010, Jo, Maggie and Victoria reformed the group and went on to perform at a number of sell-out concerts.

Ms. Dunne passed away six weeks after being told she was suffering from cancer. She had gone to see a doctor after experiencing a backache.

Her sister Maggie led tributes to the musician. She said: “Jo is one of the very few female guitarists in this country that had any recognition and any success.”

Ms. Dunne added: “I want everyone to remember her for being so brave at the end.”
