On The Buses writer Ronnie Wolfe passes away

RONNIE Wolfe, who co-wrote the hit TV comedy On The Buses, has passed away. He was 89.

The comedy series, which starred Reg Varney and Bob Grant, ran from 1969 until 1973.

Mr. Wolfe co-wrote the show with his long-time writing partner Ronald Chesney.

The pair, who were known as ‘the other two Ronnies’, wrote a number of other shows including The Rag Trade. which also starred Reg Varney.

But it was for On The Bus that Mr. Wolfe will be best remembered by fans.

In recent years Mr. Wolfe divided his time between lecturing and holding workshops on writing, and carry out after-dinner speaking engagements.

He was also the author of Writing Comedy which is a guide to scriptwriting for TV, radio, film and stage.

Mr. Wolfe died after suffering a head injury in a fall.
