Actor Donald Hewlett passes away

The actor Donald Hewlett, who played the upper-crust officer in TV’s It Ain’t Half Hot Mum, has passed away. He was 90.

Mr. Hewlett starred as Lt. Col. Charles Reynolds in the comedy series which ran between 1974 and 1981.

He went on to play another upper-crush role in You Rang M’Lord (1988-1993).

His earlier TV career had included parts in a range of popular shows including The Avengers, Coronation Street, The Saint and Doctor Who.

He also enjoyed success in a number of films, including Bottoms Up (1960), A Touch Of Class (1973) and The First Great Train Robbery (1979).

Mr. Hewlett also played Captain Frobisher in Hinge & Bracket.

His last TV appearance was in 1995 in The Upper Hand.
