Former road haulage magnate passes away

Tributes have been paid to Edward Stobart who headed one of the UK’s top haulage companies for over 30 years.

Mr. Stobart had built the Eddie Stobart company into one of the best known haulage companies in the United Kingdom with lorries bearing the firm’s name being familiar across the entire country.

The company had been started by Mr. Stobart’s father Eddie.

Mr. Stobart, who was 56, sold the company to his brother William and business partner Andrew Tinkler in 2004.

He had been taken into hospital on Wednesday (March 30) after apparently experiencing heart problems.
